Vintage Military Mantel Clock A customer brought me this manual wound vintage military clock asking if I could mount it in someway for them. Their initial vision was for it to hang on a wall as it was originally intended, but I was given creative license to customize it for them. This was the outcome. They were very happy with it….which makes me happy. I constructed it so it could be hung on the wall like they envisioned, reinforcing it to bear the weight, or it can free stand on a mantel, shelf, desk or any flat surface; now seeing it in the style of a mantel clock, they decided to put it on a shelf. It stands about 10” high, 12” wide, 4” deep. It’s constructed from red oak. The thin strips along the sides are darkened with an ebony stain to contrast the warm brown stain and compliment the clock itself. The clock hole face frames are fastened with decorative bolts and design to cover up the clocks flange but can be removed so the clock can be pulled out if necessary. It was tricky to build. These vintage military clocks can be acquired, making custom builds like this possible upon request.
